At what point do you know you have won it or is it always a close race. Meaning if a guy is one up through 4, is that a done deal? Or if it is one or 2 up through 15 is that a done deal? Questions regards to todays matches.

most matches can go any which way. but if you are more then 1-2 down heading into the back nine you are in alot of trouble. However if you are down 9 through 9 holes, well we saw what happened then. COME ON TIGER WAKE UP!!!

ask Darren Clarke.....

seriously though, there is no real solid answer to that. Match play golf is prone to a wide variety of momentum swings and much different than stroke play.

Personally I feel that match play sets up better for your more ceribral conservative players in the long run and they tend to hold leads better. Risk/reward players such as Daly, Mickelson, etc can be more suceptible to losing leads as they can stray from their "natural" tendencies. Past winners tend to be players that play within themselves more often.

Not sure if that addresses your question, but I would feel much better with a Toms, Goosen, Woods type player 1-up lead heading to the back nine than I would with a Daly, Mickelson, Sabbatini type.
